Holloway ARP

The Holloway Advanced Research Program is housed within the Russia Maritime Studies Institute. It is a collaborative student-faculty research effort that uses military operations research, free-play wargaming and open-source Russian-language research to conduct detailed studies of high-intensity conventional warfare. Scenarios involve a variety of access denial challenges enabled by sophisticated military technology.

Educating Future Leaders

The Holloway student program is an elective that runs through the entire academic year. Working closely with U.S. Naval War College faculty, students conduct data collection, research, analysis and wargaming on an assigned scenario-based problem. The courses include a thorough grounding in relevant sensors, weapons, command and control systems, training regimes and operational practices of all forces involved as well as the use of quantitative techniques for operations research where quantification is appropriate.

The Holloway Group maintains direct contact with the full range of relevant intelligence and operational commands to ensure project currency and to provide feedback to these commands. Research outputs provide a firm basis for operational planning and joint force organization at the theater level. Project results are provided to theater operational forces and to Navy leadership.
