The U.S. Naval War College (NWC) Learning Commons is a hub for information and research resources, as well a center for writing and teaching assistance. The Learning Commons includes the Henry E. Eccles library, the Information Resources helpdesk, the Writing and Teaching Excellence Center, and an upstairs café and refreshment area.

Featured Faculty
Mark E. de Jong
Mark de Jong joined the U.S. Naval War College in 2025 as director of the Henry E. Eccles Library and as an associate professor. He most recently worked at the U.S. Naval Academy's Nimitz Library in Annapolis, MD and at the National Library of Medicine in Bethesda, MD. He earned a doctorate in management with a focus in higher education leadership and a master's in history in addition to his library degree. Mark taught in multiple University System of Maryland institutions as an adjunct for twenty-two years, first in history and then in management/leadership.
Wendy Kieron-Sanchez
Wendy Kieron-Sanchez joined the U.S. Naval War College in 2007. Previously, she served as the head of technical services at Redwood Library and Athenaeum from 1999-2007 and as the technical services librarian at New England Historic Genealogical Society from 1995-1999. She has devoted over 30 years to all aspects of library services.
