NEWPORT, R.I. – Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Gary Roughead will host the biennial 19th International Seapower Symposium (ISS) Oct. 7-9 at the Naval War College for naval leaders from around the globe.
This year's meeting celebrates the 40th anniversary of the symposium, first held in 1969, and will be one of the largest gatherings of maritime leaders in history. ISS provides an unprecedented opportunity for naval leaders from around the world to increase trust and confidence by discussing common maritime challenges and opportunities to enhance maritime security cooperation.
The keynote address by Adm. Roughead will be carried live on the Pentagon Channel and streamed live on Navy.mil, 9-9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 7. The Secretary of the Navy's remarks will be broadcast live from 9:30-9:45 a.m.
More than 200 Flag Officers, General Officers and senior civilian leaders, including a significant number of Chief of Naval Operations and Commandant of the Coast Guard counterparts, from 106 countries are expected to attend this notable event. This year's theme is "Connecting Navies, Building Partnerships."
