NEWPORT, R.I. – U.S. Naval War College will be joining four other colleges offering courses at the new University of Mary Washington Dahlgren Campus Center for Education and Research on Jan. 3.
The new, 27–acre campus is located beside the Naval Support Facility in King George County, Va. The center will be the foundation for the education and research conglomerates that exist between the Navy base, higher educational institutions and the employers in the surrounding area.
According to Tim Garrold, NWC’s Fleet Seminar Program Manager, the College of Distance Education will offer their Joint Military Operations (JMO) course and is planning on offering Strategy and War the following year.
“We average about 15 students in Dahlgren each year,” said Garrold. “This facility could attract more students to our distance education programs.”
University of Mary Washington Dahlgren Campus Center for Education and Research has state of the art instructional technology systems along with video conferencing abilities. The new campus will focus on the graduate science and engineering programs that are currently already offered on the naval base by state institutions. The new facilities are also going to be made available for educational or professional events held by public and private institutions.
