The War Gaming Department provides direct support to Navy Fleets and Naval Component Commands when requested. War Gaming is an excellent venue for conducting analysis of operational plans and theater security cooperation plans. These events can range from a table top exercise to scenario planning to a two-sided, free play war game depending on the objectives of the command. The department offers a faculty with significant experience and expertise in designing, executing, and analyzing these types of games.
Past support for the fleets and component commands includes: Standardized Task Force Construct Game for Pacific Fleet, Bilateral Defense Games for Fifth Fleet, Gulf of Guinea Maritime Engagement Games for Sixth Fleet, and Maritime Homeland Security/Maritime Homeland Defense Games for US Fleet Forces.
The department also provides games and conducts events in support of combatant commands when the objective is maritime in nature or will benefit maritime forces. Previous events have included: Deterrence and Escalation Management Game and Review for Strategic Command, SEALIFT Games for Transportation Command, education for Azerbaijani Navy and Coast Guard for European Command, and capstone war games for the Kenyan Maritime Center of Excellence in support of Joint Task Force Horn of Africa.
