CDR Mitchell T. Wilson graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Science in Physics in 1990. He attended Aviation Officer’s Candidate School (AOCS) in Pensacola, Florida where he was commissioned an Ensign in the United States Naval Reserve in June 1992.   He attended primary flight training in Corpus Christi, Texas and Advanced Flight Training at NAS Whiting Field. He was designated a Naval Aviator on 7 January 1994.
Following initial Fleet Replacement Pilot training at HC-3, CDR Wilson reported to HC-5 aboard Andersen Air Force Base, Guam in December 1994. He completed deployments aboard the USNS KILEAEU (T-AE- 26) and the USS BELLEAU WOOD (LHA-3).   In 1998, he transferred to Helicopter Training Squadron EIGHTEEN (HT-18) in Pensacola, Florida to begin duty as a Naval Flight Instructor. 
CDR Wilson served aboard the USS BATAAN (LHD-5) as Assistant AIR Officer. Followed by a Department Head tour at Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron TWO SIX for where he served as Training, Tactics and Operations Officer and Officer in Charge of Detachment TWO.
Next, he reported to the Naval War College in Newport RI, where he earned his Joint Professional Military Education Phase I and Master’s Degree in National Security and Strategic Studies.
Upon completion of the Naval War College, CDR Wilson reported to Commander Helicopter Sea Combat WING Atlantic to serve as the WING Operations Officer. In his off duty time, he earned a Master’s of Science in Systems Analysis from Naval Post Graduate School.
CDR Wilson served as Commander Carrier Strike Group Twelve’s Anti-Terrorism/Force Protection Officer while embarked USS ENTERPRISE (CVN-65) for two deployments and is currently assigned to the Naval War College’s War Gaming Department.
CDR Wilson’s awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (with two gold stars), Navy and Marine Corp Commendation (with two gold stars), Navy and Marine Corp Achievement (with gold Star) and numerous unit and campaign awards.
