CDR Brandon McCauley attended Appalachian State University in Boone, N.C. where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Community and Regional Planning in 1994. After working for a private consulting firm near Charlotte, N.C. he enlisted in the Navy in 1996.

In 1997, after completing Electronic Warfare (EW) A and C school at Corry Station in Pensacola FL., CDR McCauley reported aboard CG 48, USS Yorktown as an EW3.  Not long after reporting, he was notified he would soon be attending Officer Candidate School in Pensacola, where he received his commission in January of 1998.

CDR McCauley’s operational tours include VP-1, CVN-72, Fleet Support Unit 10, and VP-40. He has amassed over 2,300 flight hours in various aircraft, mostly in the P-3C and T-1A Jayhawk. His shore tours have been at VT-10 in Pensacola, FL. and the United States Naval War College located in Newport, RI. In February of 2013, CDR McCauley was awarded a Masters Degree in National Security and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College where he now currently works as Military Faculty in the War Gaming Department.

His personal awards include the Air Medal (two awards), the Navy Commendation Medal (four awards), the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (two awards) and various campaign and unit awards.
