Commander Diane J. Quattrone graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1996 with a Bachelor of Science degree in English.
After completion of the Surface Warfare Officers School in Newport, Rhode Island, CDR Quattrone reported to USS GERMANTOWN (LSD 42) as the Electronic Materials Officer in USS GERMANTOWN (LSD 42). She also served as Supporting Arms Coordinator with Amphibious Squadron Six deploying with USS KEARSARGE (LHD 3).  As a Department Head she served as Operations Officer in USS CURTIS WILBUR (DDG 54) and Training Officer in USS ESSEX (LHD 2). As Executive Officer, she served in USS SHILOH (CG 67).   

Commander Quattrone’s duties ashore focused on development of Surface Warfare Officers. She was a Professional Development Instructor in the Seamanship and Navigation Division of the United States Naval Academy and qualified as Craftmaster. She also served as a Maritime Warfare Instructor at the Surface Warfare Officers School. As an N73 instructor, she specialized in Amphibious Warfare and developed a comprehensive Operational Readiness, Training and Engineering (ORT&E) curriculum to better prepare perspective Department Head student for the rigors of serving in Department Head sea billets, earning her qualification as a Master Training Specialist. In 2013 she was awarded a Master of Arts degree in National Security and Strategic Studies from the U.S. Naval War College in Newport, RI and invited to remain onboard as a military professor in the Center for Naval Warfare War Gaming Department.

CDR Quattrone’s personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (5 awards) and Navy, Marine Corps Achievement Medal (2 awards) and various service medals and ribbons.
