Arrival

We recommend all SEA students access Naval Station Newport through the GATE 1 (main gate). Use the address 1 Training Station Rd, Newport, RI 02840-1306 for GPS coordinates to generate a route to gate 1.

Airport

Retain the cab until you complete your check in, your room location may not be in close proximity to the front desk, Combined Bachelors Quarters (CBQ) (Bldg 1312). We recommend all SEA students access Naval Station Newport through the GATE 1 (the main gate).

The SEA does not endorse any specific commercial transportation company.  Taxi drivers must be fully vetted and have been granted clearance to drive on base.  Cozy Cab (401-846-2500), Orange Cab (401-841-0030), and Rainbow Cab (401-849-1333) all have drivers that have been vetted and granted access to the base.  Students will need to contact the taxi company and request a driver with base access.  Cozy Cab is the least expensive, however, they have fewer vetted drivers.  All the taxi's take cash and cost up to $100 each way.

T. F. Green Airport in Providence, RI (1-888-268-7222) is the nearest airport to Naval Station Newport. It offers travelers a variety of airlines with diverse service areas.

Local

Naval Station Newport does not provide busing or shuttle services. However, the base does permit local cab companies access for picking up or dropping off. Local cab companies authorized on base include Orange Cab (401) 846-1994, A-1 Car Cab & Van (401) 841-0411, and Cozy Cab (401) 846-2500. When you call, ensure they send a driver authorized on base.

Car rental services include Avis, 1-800-331-1212; Hertz, 1-800-654-3131; National, 1-800-227-7368; and Thrifty, 1-800-367-2277. Enterprise rent-a-car is available on base at the gas station 1-401-324-6834 (down the street from the NEX).

NOTE: Renting a vehicle at government expense while PCS for your entire stay at the SEA is not authorized per BUPERS/JFTR and constitutes fraud, waste, and abuse. However, for TAD personnel, the decision to provide you with a government rental car rests with your commanding officer.
