Donna M. Connolly, PhD
Professor and Director
Professor Donna Connolly joined the Naval War College in August 2009 as the first Director of the Writing Center. Professor Connolly has more than twenty-five years of experience in higher education and has taught writing and literature at a variety of colleges and universities at the undergraduate and graduate levels and in the online arena. She served twice as faculty in the English Department at the Air Force Academy where, among other positions, she was Director of a major core course and the Director of Personnel for the Department. She was also assigned as the Associate Dean of the Middle East Language School at the Defense Language Institute, has been the Dean of Education at a small online school, taught both in the University of Maryland University College’s European Division in Germany and in UMUC’s Distance Education program, designed writing materials and workshops for an online graduate school, and currently serves as a member on several dissertation committees. She has edited manuscripts for the NDU Press; served as an assistant editor for the Air Force Academy’s journal, War, Literature, and the Arts; was a reader for the University of Notre Dame’s publication, Religion and Literature; and was a guest writer for the Los Alamos National Laboratory’s classified journal, Defense Science. During her 20 year career in the Air Force, she was assigned as a Supply Officer at Griffiss AFB, NY; Keflavik NAS, Iceland; and Comiso AS, Sicily. Professor Connolly holds a BA in English from Wheeling Jesuit University, a MA in English from the University of Tennessee, and a PhD in English from the University of Notre Dame.
