NEWPORT, R.I. - On November 4 , Cmdr. James Kraska of the International Law Department delivered a presentation at the University of Maine Law School in Portland, Maine.
The talk, which was sponsored by the Marine Law Institute at the school, was titled "Seapower, Statecraft & the Law of the Sea," and is based on Commander Kraska recently-completed research doctoral dissertation. The dissertation analyzes the relationship between international law of the sea and naval operations over the course of history.
The Marine Law Institute is the research and public service component of the Ocean and Coastal Law Program at the University of Maine Law School. MLI has dedicated its program of legal and policy research to the analysis of ocean and coastal resource issues for the express purpose of improving management practices and public understanding.
