NEWPORT, R.I. - The Operational Level of War (OLW) Department of the College of Operational and Strategic Leadership hosted the instructor staff of the Senior Enlisted Academy (SEA) on Dec. 16.
Over the past two months, the OLW Department, working closely with SEA staff, developed two blocks of instruction designed to help meet Enlisted Joint Professional Military Education Objectives.
At the workshop, OLW professors presented blocks of instruction concerning Joint Operations Planning and Execution System and its linkages to the Navy's deliberate and crisis action planning systems as well as an Introduction to the Maritime Operations Center Concept.
Based on feedback from the SEA instructors, the course of instruction developed will ultimately be included into the SEA curriculum.
The OLW Department will be providing instruction to the Surface Officers Warfare School and the Naval Justice School, also located at Naval Station Newport, in an effort to increase the Fleet's understanding of the CNO's vision regarding Maritime Operations Centers and the Navy's effort to reclaim the lost art of Command and Control at the Operational Level of War.
