Naval War College professor named fellow
at Harvard JFK School

Thomas M. Nichols Newport, R.I., June 6, 2008 -- Dr. Thomas M. Nichols has been appointed a Fellow at Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government for the coming academic year. He will have a joint appointment in both the International Security Program and Harvard's "Project on Managing the Atom," a program related to issues of nuclear weapons and nonproliferation. Nichols will be working on a research project on reducing nuclear arms.

Nichols is a Professor of National Security Affairs at the United States Naval War College in Newport, RI, where he holds the Forrest Sherman Chair in Public Diplomacy. He is also a Senior Associate of the Carnegie Council on Ethics and International Affairs in New York City. His most recent book, Eve of Destruction: The Coming Age of Preventive War was published in February 2008 by the University of Pennsylvania Press.
