GREETINGS from the NAVAL WAR COLLEGE
At the Naval War College, we develop strategic and operational leaders, we help
the Chief of Naval Operations define the future Navy and its roles and missions,
we support combat readiness, and we strengthen maritime security cooperation.
For over 100 years, graduates of the Naval War College have gone on to proudly serve
our nation in leadership positions throughout all branches of the armed forces and
in the defense community.
The Naval War College also plays an important role in the international community
as our Naval Command College and Naval Staff Colleges have been fostering friendship,
knowledge, and cooperation among friendly and allied navies from around the globe.
Our Center for Naval Warfare Studies is the Navys "think tank," providing the means
to help define the future Navy while directly complementing the curriculum of the
Naval War College. The Center facilitates developing new warfighting concepts by
linking strategic concerns with technological developments.
Our location in Newport, Rhode Island provides us with what we like to call the
Newport Advantage. In coordination with the CNOs Strategic Studies Group, the
Navy Warfare Development Command and the Naval Undersea Warfare Center, the Naval
War College is part of a powerful team that helps ensure our Navy will continue
to meet the challenges of the 21st Century.
As you navigate through our web site you will become more familiar with our missions,
goals and most importantly, the people who make the Naval War College the finest
institution of its kind anywhere in the world.
