Thought of the Week:
"I'm not a very smart guy. I haven't guided myself to the position I'm in. I've been mentored. I've been tutored. I've been taught along the way. I've been told to follow. I've been told to lead … In this job, I'm mediocre. I'm average … This was a situation I was put in. By no means did I do anything that others wouldn't have done … if I’m receiving the MOH for being an average solder, imagine how great the good ones are.”

PROSPECT OF RUSSIAN ARMS IN CHINESE MARKET IN NEXT 20 YEARS
Kanwa Asian Defense Review, November 2010
- This report concludes that the prospect of the Russian mainstay naval and air force equipment in the Chinese arms market, including SUKHOI serial fighters, bombers, KILO 636 submarines, large surface battleships, is becoming more or less clear: China has already taken on its own path of arms build-up and therefore will not continue to rely on Russia in equipment development in the above areas.

China's President Hu Jintao, about to meet his American counterpart Barack Obama in Washington for a fence-mending summit, won't be calling all the shots. Neither will the Foreign Ministry. Until Chinese foreign-policy making changes, the perspectives of the military and the intricate power dynamics of the Communist Party apparatus count. And too many opinions make for a bland foreign-policy stew.
