Master Chief Marchinek, a native of Kettle Falls, Washington, enlisted in the United States Coast Guard in 1992. Following completion of basic training at Coast Guard Training Center Cape May, New Jersey, he reported to Coast Guard Polar Ice-Breaker USCGC POLAR SEA (
WAGB 11) home ported in Seattle, Washington.
Upon completion of his initial assignment, he completed a second afloat tour aboard USCGC CUTTYHUNK (WPB 1322) Port Angeles, Washington as Coxswain and Boarding Team Member. Following this tour, he reported to Coast Guard Training Center Petaluma, California where he completed Coast Guard Telecommunications Specialist Class ‘A’ school. He completed a third afloat tour aboard USCGC ACTIVE (WMEC 618) Port Angeles, Washington. In addition, Master Chief Marchinek completed shore assignments at Communications Area Master Station Pacific (CAMSPAC) Point Reyes, California; USCG Group Port Angeles, Washington; USCG District Thirteen Staff, Seattle, Washington; and USCG Vessel Traffic Center Valdez, Alaska. He also deployed with USCG Port Security Unit 313 to Pusan, Korea in support of Operation Foal Eagle 2000.
In June 2009, Master Chief Marchinek was invited to join the faculty of the Navy’s Senior Enlisted Academy as the first Coast Guard Faculty Advisor. Master Chief Marchinek holds an Associates of Arts degree in Business Administration from Coastline Community College. Additionally, he is a graduate of the Coast Guard CPO Academy, Class 116; Coast Guard Command Master Chief Course; and Army Sergeants Major Academy, Class 59. Master Chief Marchinek has earned the Coast Guard Cutterman and Boat Force Operations Insignias and served as the Valdez area Coast Guard Command Senior Chief.
