Profile
Captain Michael R. Fierro, U.S. Navy, is a 1982 graduate of the United States Naval Academy. He has a B.S. in History and a M.A. in National Security and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College. A Surface Warfare Officer with operational tours in the Western Pacific Ocean and Arabian Gulf, he has served in Cruiser-Destroyer class ships, as Surface Operations Officer on Carrier Strike Group SEVEN staff, STENNIS Strike Group, during Operation ENDURING FREEDOM and commanded USS KINKAID (DD 965) and Naval Support Activity Annapolis. He has served as an instructor at Surface Warfare Officers School Command and Tactical Training Group Pacific; Placement Officer and Assignments Officer in the Surface Warfare Division at the Naval Personnel Command; and in the Office of the Secretary of Defense as a Military Assistant to the Assistant Secretary of Defense for International Security Affairs, the Honorable Peter W. Rodman. His most recent assignment was Assistant Directory for Policy, Resources and Strategy (Deputy N5/N8) on the staff of U.S. Naval Forces Europe-U.S. Naval Forces Africa-U.S. SIXTH Fleet in Naples, Italy.
