Mission Statement

Support to the Fleet, Ready and Fully Integrated

Act as advisor to the President, Provost, Deputy/Chief of Staff, and Dean Center for Naval Warfare Studies in all matters related to the Reserve Component (RC) that support the Naval War College (NWC). Liaison with COMNAVRESFOR for all Reserve Professional Military Education (PME) issues. Develop and implement Active-Reserve Integration (ARI) at NWC.

Function of the Operational Support Office

Serve as Central POC for all Reserve matters:

  • Execute ARI at NWC.
  • Responsible for NWC's 2-week Reserve Officer courses. Work closely with the College of Distance Education (CDE) on all Reserve Non-Resident PME programs.
  • Provide policy recommendations when needed that consider the diversity and capacity of the special skills in the Reserve Component.
  • Coordinate all Operational Support for NWC.
  • Liaison with the following NWC Reserve Units:
    • NWC Support Unit
    • NWC Law Unit
    • NWC Public Affairs Officer Unit
  • Liaison with the Joint RC force to provide capabilities above and beyond those resident in NWC Reserve Units.

Operational Support Units at NWC

  • NWC SUPPORT UNIT supports NWC with general administrative and manpower requirements including War Gaming and Special Events.
  • NWC (Law) 401 is a unit consisting of JAGC officers experienced in international law. This unit supports the College’s Operational Law and Policy (OLP) department as well as providing general legal support to the command.
  • NWC PAO UNIT consists of Public Affairs Officers and support personnel whose primary duties are to support general public affairs, JPME War Gaming and other echelon 2/3 level needs.

Personnel interested in the possibility of affiliating should be aware that most billets require individuals who have specific backgrounds and are willing to routinely drill onboard.
