Japan Recognizes Dr. William R. Farrell (CNCS 1980) with Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Neck Ribbon
The Government of Japan announced the foreign recipients of the 2011 Fall Imperial Decorations on Nov. 3.  Dr. William R. Farrell is one of 5 Americans among 53 recipients who will receive the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Neck Ribbon, in recognition of his significant contributions to the promotion of friendly relations and mutual understanding between Japan and the United States.

Ambassador Mary Beth Leonard (CNW 2004), Confirmed as U.S. Ambassador to Mali
President Barack Obama nominated veteran diplomat Mary Beth Leonard to become the U.S. Ambassador to Mali on June 21, 2011, and she was confirmed by the Senate on October 18. Leonard had previously served as deputy chief of mission at the U.S. embassy in Mali.

Oshkosh Corporation has announced that retired  Army major general John M. Urias has joined the company as Executive Vice President and President, Oshkosh Defense.  Urias will lead all aspects of the company’s global defense segment, including all tactical wheeled vehicle programs, new product development, vehicle life-cycle sustainment and aftermarket services. read more
