Thomas E. Mangold
International Programs and Maritime Security Cooperation
Professor Mangold assumed duties as Dean, International Programs and Maritime Security Cooperation, on 27 January 2012. Born in New Jersey and educated at Harvard University (BA, MPA), he was commissioned through Officer Candidate School and ultimately retired at the rank of Captain. Much of his thirty-year career was spent at sea, serving onboard various destroyers and commanding USS RODNEY M. DAVIS (FFG-60). He also served as Strike Operations Officer onboard USS WISCONSIN (BB-64) and Operations Officer of the ABRAHAM LINCOLN Battle Group. Ashore, he worked in a wide variety of staff billets in the Pentagon, and served as the U.S. Naval Attaché to China.
