Profile

Mrs. Rosa is the award-winning Head of the Technical Services Div. in the NWC Library.  She was the Chief of the NWC Library Cataloging Branch for a year prior to being promoted to her current position in 1990.  She is in charge of the Library's back scene operations where everything for the Library gets selected (Collection Development), ordered (Acquisitions), checked in (Serials/Periodicals), processed and ready for shelving or access (Cataloging and Government Documents).  She is especially interested in serving the customer, having the library patron as the beneficiary of everything that is done in Tech Services.  It is sometimes said that Tech Services is actually Public Services and Mrs. Rosa deeply believes this.

In 1989, the Library still had a card catalog and the text based Library system operated on a Vax main frame.  Mrs. Rosa guided the Library through the closing of the card catalog, the selection and implementation of a second generation PC based system as well as many upgrades since then.  Currently, Mrs. Rosa and her staff are in the process of thoughtfully weeding the collection of outdated, obsolete materials in order to provide some room for collection growth which is otherwise non-existent.

Mrs. Rosa is expert in the area of Budgeting, Library Systems, and Library Management in general.  She is also highly knowledgeable in the area of Performance Management having served on the NWC NSPS Team since 2005 when it all began for us and then the NSPS Transition Team as we left NSPS behind.
