Profile

Lieutenant Colonel Cadwalader received his commission in the United States Marine Corps Reserve in January 1993. He graduated, cum laude, from the University of Wisconsin School of Law in May 1996 and began active duty service shortly thereafter. He has served as a judge advocate at a variety of operational and garrison commands to include 2d Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward), 2d Marine Logistics Group, Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni, Japan, and Combined Joint Task Force-76. He deployed in support of both Operation IRAQI FREEDOM and Operation ENDURING FREEDOM.
 
Lieutenant Colonel Cadwalader joined the faculty of the Naval War College International Law Department in July 2010. During this assignment, he has taught classes on international and operational law topics to resident students at the Naval War College as well as at the Defense Institute of International Legal Studies, the Naval Justice School, the German Maritime Tactics Center in Bremerhaven, Germany, the International Institute of Humanitarian Law in Sanremo, Italy, the University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth School of Law, and the University of Maine School of Law.  In addition, he served as a panelist at the International Law Association annual conference in October 2011 and as a panel moderator and conference coordinator for the Naval War College international law conference in June 2011.
