NEWPORT, R.I. -- Professor Toshi Yoshihara, John A. van Beuren Chair of Asia-Pacific Studies at the U.S. Naval War College, provided testimony before the House Committee on Foreign Affairs hearing on Sept. 12, in Washington, D.C.

Yoshihara spoke on the topic, “Beijing as an Emerging Power in the South China Sea.”

"In my judgment, China's recent assertiveness in the South China Sea is a harbinger of things to come," stated Yoshihara.  "Beijing's seapower project has opened up new strategic vistas for Chinese leaders and military commanders."
