BOSTON, Ma. — Cadets from Boston University’s (BU) Army, Navy and Air Force ROTC programs presented colors to Rear Adm. John N. Christenson, president of the U.S. Naval War College, at the 29th annual BU Joint-Service Presidential Pass-in-Review ceremony on Oct. 29 at BU’s Nickerson Field.

After being introduced by BU President Robert Brown, Christenson was honored by an 11-gun howitzer salute by the Service Battery, 1st Battalion, 102nd Field Artillery Regiment, 42nd Infantry Division Artillery.

Approximately 140 ROTC cadets, who are in the military training program which dates to 1919 at BU, marched onto the field and pass the reviewing stand to the martial music of the Navy Band, Northeast, from Newport, R.I.

A reception followed at the Francis D. Burke Club Room at BU’s Agganis Arena.

Over his career, Christenson, who graduated first in his class from the Naval War College, was deployed eight times on seven ships and serving as a flag officer at the Surface Warfare Officers School in Newport, R.I., the Naval Mine and Anti-submarine Warfare Command in Texas, the U.S. Naval Academy, and the U.S. Marine Corps headquarters.
