NEWPORT, R.I. - Hayat Alvi, associate professor in the National Security Affairs department at the U.S. Naval War College, will speak at a public event at Salve Regina University, on Tuesday, Nov. 29, at 6 p.m. in the DiStefano Lecture Hall.
 
Dr. Alvi will discuss "Anger and Awakening in the Middle East: Blood, Discipline and Determination in the Arab Spring" as part of the Pell Center for International Relations and Public Policy's lecture series. Alvi will highlight the socioeconomic and political factors that gave rise to the Arab Spring, review current developments and offer an assessment of the future direction of the region.
