NEWPORT, R.I. - Professor John Roberts from the College of Distance Education attended the first "InterAmerican Conference on Naval Education" hosted by the Brazilian Navy in Rio de Janeiro October 27-30.
The purpose of the conference was to establish a network between cooperating navies of the Americas to share distance education courses and educational materials in order to enhance the security of the hemisphere.
Professor Roberts gave a presentation on the U.S. Naval War College's distance learning programs and discussed opportunities and methods to share them.
Delegates represented navies from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Peru, Ecuador, Venezuela, Colombia, Paraguay, Uruguay, Mexico and Canada.
