NEWPORT, R.I. -- The U.S. Naval War College (NWC) recognized 63 graduates from the NWC at Naval Postgraduate School (NPS) program in Monterey, Calif., during a ceremony on March 21.
NWC President Rear Adm. John N. Christenson provided the graduation remarks and joined Professor Fred P. Drake, Jr., chair of the NWC Monterey program, in awarding the diplomas.
In partnership with NPS, NWC's College of Distance Education provides NPS students the opportunity to earn a NWC Command and Staff diploma while completing their NPS Masters degree program.
Students complete three NWC courses: Strategy and War, Theater Security Decision Making, and Joint Maritime Operations, which educate military officers in areas that will enhance their performance in command and in decision-making positions on major staffs. The NWC at NPS program certifies the officer has met requirements for intermediate level service college and Joint Professional Military Education (JMPE) phase I credit.
The NWC Monterey program has produced 2,825 graduates since its establishment in 1999.
