NEWPORT, R.I. -- The Rhode Island Federal Executive Council recently recognized six U.S. Naval War College (NWC) employees as nominees for Rhode Island Employees of the Year at a luncheon held at the Radisson hotel in Warwick on June 27.   
NEWPORT, R.I. -- (June 27) A group of nominees for the Rhode Island Employees of the Year pose for picture.
The nominations included Cmdr.  Jeffrey Alves for the Professional Award; Peggy Jones and Operation Specialist 1st Class Brian Traupman for the Administrative Award; Michael Corriveau and Operation Specialist 2nd Phillip Clos for the Support Staff Award; and Fire Controlman 1st Jonathan Tyson for the Technical Award. 
 
Among the nominees, Cmdr. Jeffrey Alves was selected as this year’s Professional Employee of the Year. 
 
"I'm honored to just have been nominated by the Naval War College and humbled by the knowledge that I work with so many people who are equally qualified to receive this award," said Alves.

Cmdr. Alves says that he hopes to “raise awareness among other federal employees of all the good work being done at [NWC].”
 
Cmdr. Alves is currently an observer and trainer on NWC’s Assist and Assess Team. He received his Bachelor of Arts in International relations at Boston University.
