GROTON, Conn. - A group of Joint Military Operations faculty members visited the Naval Submarine Base in Groton, Conn. on Jan. 11 for a faculty development trip.
The group toured USS Pittsburgh, a Los Angeles class, fast-attack submarine. They also had a chance to experience several trainers at Naval Submarine School including the attack center team trainer, the USS Virginia Class ship control simulator and the submarine escape trainer. The group concluded their visit with a discussion on current submarine operations with Submarine Group Two and Submarine Squadron Four officials.
The group included: Army Col. Mike Rauhut, Cmdr. Marc Tranchemontagne, Army Col. Stu Furner, Marine Corps Lt. Col. Gerry Loenard, Army Col. Brian Rogers, Cmdr. John Gordon, Cmdr. Mark McManus, Air Force Lt. Col. Justin Speegle, Cmdr. Robert Burke, and Marine Corps Col. Kevin Masterson and Naval War College professors Steve Fornad, Mike McGauvran, Don Chisholm, Tom Parker, Eric Shaw, Ivan Luke, and Paul Povlock.
