(Photo by LS1 John Stone)NEWPORT, R.I. - U.S. Naval War College (NWC) War Gaming Department’s Operations Specialist 2nd Class Bradley Hansen was recognized as the college’s Junior Sailor of the Year during an awards ceremony, Feb. 6.

NWC President Rear Adm. John N. Christenson presented Hansen with a Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal during the ceremony.
 
Hansen was recognized for his exemplary performance providing support for multiple war games including Fleet Arctic Operations, Global, and Korea United that involved more than 400 participants from dozens of countries. As NWC’s Honor Guard coordinator, Hansen helped support New England veteran funeral honors, more than 20 military retirement ceremonies, and many community events.  He also was an integral part of Rhode Island School System’s “Operation Homefront” that provided more than 1,000 backpacks filled with school supplies for elementary school students. 

Hansen graduated from Wynot High School in Wynot, Neb. and enlisted in July 2004.
