Professor Andrew Erickson, China Maritime Studies, recently published a new article in the Asian Security Journal titled The Conventional Missile Capabilities of China's Second Artillery Force: Cornerstone of Deterrence and Warfighting . The article discusses China’s accelerating military and how the U.S. will be forced to adapt to the growing challenges they will face in their military operations in the Asia-pacific.

Professor Mike Schmitt, Chairman of the International Law Department, spoke on "Emerging Challenges in Warfare and the Law of Armed Conflict" at the 4th Annual Senior Officer' Security and Law Conference on 12 July in Geneva. The conference, sponsored by the Geneva Centre for Security Policy, is conducted annually for Flag and other senior officers from around the world who are responsible for the implementation of the law of armed conflict in their armed forces. Schmitt's presentation focused on cyber warfare and how international law applies during cyber operations. He is currently directing a major international project to produce a Manual on the International Law of Cyber Warfare, the final drafting session of which was held in Estonia 15-20 July.

China’s Anti-Piracy Activities and 21st-Century Global Maritime Governance. The article discusses the future of U.S.-China relations in the coming years and what that could mean for the rest of the global community.
