NEWPORT, R.I. – U.S. Naval War College (NWC) professor Martin Cook, Admiral James Bond Stockdale Chair of Professional Military Ethics, will be the keynote speaker at the International Symposium on “Chinese Ethics of War and Peace: Traditional Approaches and Contemporary Problems,” scheduled August 29-31 at Hong Kong Baptist University. Cook’s topic titled “Is Just War Spiritually Possible?” will be presented on August 30. 
 
The symposium will be divided into six sessions, and the chairperson of each session will facilitate the discussions. Cook will join speakers from Hong Kong Baptist University, Brooklyn College, Indiana University Bloomington, Brown University, Florida State University, Shanghai Normal University, and The Chinese University of Hong Kong.

Prior to his work at NWC, Cook was the Professor of Philosophy and Deputy Department Head at the United States Air Force Academy. He serves on the editorial boards of Parameters, the scholarly journal of the Army War College, and The Journal of Military Ethics.
